In this episode of the Vedge Your Best podcast, I discuss the concept of “minimum baseline.” This concept is particularly useful when trying to learn something new, change an old habit, or when you’re not feeling at your best. The minimum baseline is essentially the least amount of something you can do while still maintaining basic integrity with yourself.
A minimum baseline is not what you aspire to, but rather the bare minimum that makes you feel in control and comfortable with how things are going. It’s about setting standards that are so minimal they are easy to achieve, but also easy to overlook. The idea is to overcome the brain’s tendency to dismiss these small actions as insignificant.
If you’re struggling to adopt a plant-based or vegan lifestyle, I suggest applying the minimum baseline concept. Incorporate small, manageable actions into your routine, like eating a stalk of celery every day, having a salad with each meal, or having a smoothie a day. The key is to start small and build up gradually.
