In this episode of the Vedge Your Best podcast I discuss the concept of being a beginner, particularly in the context of adopting a vegan lifestyle. It’s important to have a “beginner’s mind”–to accept where you are and accept the world as it is. With this mindset, you can acknowledge your current limitations and not judge yourself harshly for them.
If you’re considering adopting a vegan lifestyle, I encourage you to start with an open mind, free from the pressure of doing everything perfectly. Don’t overthink the process and start with easy choices. The journey toward veganism is a process that cannot be fully planned in advance.
It’s normal to find some aspects of the vegan journey challenging. It’s important to remember that struggling with these challenges does not indicate failure or that you’re not suited to the lifestyle.
Becoming vegan in my 50s brought confidence, compassion, and freedom into my life. Of course, I faced my own challenges and had to learn that it’s okay to be imperfect. I embraced the journey with a sense of humor and sought support when needed.
